Niece Web #47 is up finally!
Please enjoy Niece Web #47: The Rainy Day Club part 5. As I said before, I tried something new with this comic. There's no inking in this comic whatsoever, its all done with pencil. I noticed in my various art classes that I actually work at my best in pencil. Not only do I draw more consistently and pay more attention to detail, but my line work is actually much looser with pencil.
When I previously inked my comics, I found it more of a chore than doing art. I was doing it for the sake of making it look "finalized" and so it'll scan into the computer better. Because I found it as a chore, the line art ended up looking stiff and "mistakes" keep popping up. So it was about time I switched over to pencil and boy did it work wonders. I found myself enjoying drawing the comic more so because I was getting rid of the laborious inking stage. It still took the same amount of time it would've if I inked too, but that's because the extra time was spent actually focusing on getting the drawing accurate and loose (not to mention American Idol was on at the time too).
I consider this comic to be one of my best work yet. I don't know if you guys can see any difference, but I can. The nieces look so much better! As you can guys can tell, I'm really excited about my new found media switch, lol.
Well, anyway tension starts to flare with Spring and Winter, so stay tuned to see what else happens next. Next week is my Spring Break from college, so I'm actually going to be away from my comic workstation (my computer) for a whole week. To prevent a week long hiatus, I'm (hopefully) going to draw the next 3 comics in advance since I have a little time to do it. If it doesn't go well, I will definitely let you guys know by Saturday morning. Until then, later taters!!!
