Dreaded Spring Break Hiatus!

I am so furious right now! I have some bad news...there won't be any new comics until Tuesday March 28th due to my spring break. This is NOT because I am unable to do them....this is because my residence hall director thought it would be nice to have a scheduled power outage beginning tonight and all day Saturday. That means my computer will be unavailable so I can't scan nor color in the comics. I was ready to do a marathon session too and create 3 comics in one sitting, but now I can't. I can draw them, but I can't finish them at this point.

But let's get away from that for now. It IS Spring Break after all, there's no time for being mad. We should be all having fun this week and that's what I'm going to do. So definitely enjoy yourselves during this hiatus (I know I will) and I will see you on the 28th. From me, Dark Spider and the nieces, later taters!

Niece Web #47 is up finally!

Please enjoy Niece Web #47: The Rainy Day Club part 5. As I said before, I tried something new with this comic. There's no inking in this comic whatsoever, its all done with pencil. I noticed in my various art classes that I actually work at my best in pencil. Not only do I draw more consistently and pay more attention to detail, but my line work is actually much looser with pencil.

When I previously inked my comics, I found it more of a chore than doing art. I was doing it for the sake of making it look "finalized" and so it'll scan into the computer better. Because I found it as a chore, the line art ended up looking stiff and "mistakes" keep popping up. So it was about time I switched over to pencil and boy did it work wonders. I found myself enjoying drawing the comic more so because I was getting rid of the laborious inking stage. It still took the same amount of time it would've if I inked too, but that's because the extra time was spent actually focusing on getting the drawing accurate and loose (not to mention American Idol was on at the time too).

I consider this comic to be one of my best work yet. I don't know if you guys can see any difference, but I can. The nieces look so much better! As you can guys can tell, I'm really excited about my new found media switch, lol.

Well, anyway tension starts to flare with Spring and Winter, so stay tuned to see what else happens next. Next week is my Spring Break from college, so I'm actually going to be away from my comic workstation (my computer) for a whole week. To prevent a week long hiatus, I'm (hopefully) going to draw the next 3 comics in advance since I have a little time to do it. If it doesn't go well, I will definitely let you guys know by Saturday morning. Until then, later taters!!!

New Update: The next comic will be on Thursday and other announcements

If you guys have been following up with the site, you'll know that as recently as like an hour ago, I put up that the comic will be done in a few hours. Well, scratch that...the new comic will be on Thursday. I recently noticed that my drawing strength is in using pencils while ink pens slow me down and actually bring down my artwork. So tonight I decided to do the comic in pencil only. The line art was a COMPLETE success. I've never seen the nieces drawn so good. But the problem lay in actually coloring them. I failed to darken the pencil lines enough, so the coloring process is actually 10x more tedious than before.

So yea, I actually don't have the time tonight nor tomorrow to fix up the line art so it'll color faster or even work with the line art I have. You see, I have a BIG mid term on Thursday that I should be studying for, on top of other work due before Spring Break. All that homework should be done by Thursday afternoon, so I'm free to work on the comic and it'll be ready for you guys by 10PM that night.

Also guys, I'm giving you a heads up. My spring break from college is all next week, so I'm going to spend it at home with my family. That means my computer and scanning equipment will be left behind at college in the mean time. So before I actually leave out for spring break, I'll try my hardest to churn out next tuesday and saturday's comic in advance. I'll let you guys know if I was successful with that by Friday.

Tardy Spider strikes again, i guess....later taters!

Rainy Day part 4 is up

After a slow build up, the seeds of drama are planted. It only goes downhill from here....enjoy. Haha, later taters until Tuesday!
